These terms govern your use of Root & Whole (“the service”). By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Root & Whole lets you read curated aphorisms from the world’s traditions, save the ones you like, and create images by placing a quote on your own photograph. Features may change, and we may add or remove them.
You sign in with your email address. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure and for activity under your account. Please give us a valid email address.
You keep all rights to the photographs you use. Because photos are processed in your browser and not uploaded, we do not receive or store them. You promise that you have the right to use any photo you choose, and that you will not use the service to create unlawful, hateful, harassing or infringing images.
The selection, notes and design of the service belong to us or our licensors. Quotations belong to their authors or the public domain. You may use the images you create for personal, non-commercial purposes, and may share them freely; if you bought the unbranded export, you may share your pictures without the mark. Please do not copy or resell our collection, or scrape the site.
Paid features and their prices are described on the pricing page. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller, Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ), which is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Creem handles payment, billing, sales tax/VAT, and returns, and its own terms apply to the checkout. Refunds are covered by our refund policy. A purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use the paid feature with your account.
Do not attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the service, send automated requests at a volume that harms it, or use it to break the law.
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We try to attribute quotations accurately, but we cannot guarantee that every attribution, translation or note is correct or complete.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50 if you paid nothing.
You may stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or misuse the service.
We may update these terms. If a change is meaningful we will update the date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
